Greg A. Hill is one of the most popular and richest Sport Cyclist who was born on October 27, 1963 in Santa Ana, California, United States. Gregory Alan Hill (born October 27, 1963 , in Santa Ana, California) is an American professional cyclist (BMX) racer. His most racing years were between 1977 until 1989. Hill retired from the highly racers on the “AA” pro circuit after the 1998 season.
In the summer of 1983, Greg Hill started his own BMX bicycle business, Greg Hill Products (GHP) which made frames and forks. Later, they made complete Bicycles. In the beginning, Cycle Pro manufactured the Hill created components and were sold through the company. Later, GHP products were built by VDC. Hill was mentioned as a contributor to the issue in October 1983 of Super BMX magazine about reasons for his switch away from GT Racing said that he wanted “…to go on and to pursue his own interests.” The company was in its initial form between 1983 and 1986 before undergoing an additional period of existence from 1991 until 1993 and then from 2005 until the current.
|*Retired: He retired from frontline Senior pro (AA) competition in 1998 at the age of 35. However, like it seems with the majority of BMX racers they can’t stay away from it. After a four-year lay off Greg Hill started racing in ABA’s Vet pro class at the age of 40 in 2004.
In truth, he doesn’t have a post BMX career per se. After a four-year hiatus he found he could not stay away and began racing in the Veteran’s Pro class of the ABA in 2004. His own BMX bicycle company, Greg Hill Products is doing quite well. He is still involved with teaching kids the secrets of BMX racing in Pro clinics he runs.
He was well-known to be extremely outspoken, a driver who could be a bit of an ego on the track. some of his nicknames included “The Machine” and “The Businessman” due to his serious and determined attitude to racing, even when he was a teenager and his willingness to voice his opinion, even criticizing the sanctioning bodies as well as their rules and policies. “The Businessman” moniker in particular was created in the late 1980s by Bob Osborn, owner and editor of Bicycle Motocross Action magazine. Greg personally refused to support the ABA for the entire season in 1980 starting by boycotting the Winternationals and concluding with the Vans 5000 Pro Spectacular. Later, he led an informal boycott of pro athletes with several highly respected top athletes opposed to ABA in 1983, over the process by which the ABA number one national champion was determined. Hill was involved in a range of ventures in the business world including motivational how-to books as well as video tapes, as well as an ineffective BMX bicycle business, Greg Hill Products (GHP) in the 1980s, which he revived in the 1990s, and is still with a strong presence, and also teaching classes to help children learn the art of racing. These are only some of the examples of his determination to make Greg Hill and BMX in the media.
